Recent Buy - Archer Daniels Midland Company (ADM)

Friday, May 12, I bought 25 shares of Archer Daniels Midland Company at $ 41.88 per share plus commission.




My overall cost basis of this position increases from $ 32.87 to $ 35.58 per share. I totally hold now 85 shares of ADM and my yield on cost is 3.60%. I made my first purchase of ADM in February 2016, which you can look here.

Dividend Increase – TELUS Corporation (TSX: T, NYSE: TU)


Today the Board of Directors of TELUS Corporation announced a quarterly dividend increase of from CA$ 0.48 to CA$ 0.4925 per share that’s payable July 4, 2017 to holders of record June 9, 2017. This represents a 7.07% increase year-over-year and 2.60% increase to the last quarter dividend. This was a thirteenth dividend increase since TELUS announcing their multi-year dividend growth program in May 2011 With current price CA$ 45.82 (today's open), this raise brings their dividend yield to 4.30%.

Since I own 180 shares, this will increase my portfolio's projected annual net dividend income by CA$ 6.71.

That increase rises my YOC to 4.33%.

Recent Buy - Enbridge Inc. (ENB.TO)

On Friday May 5, I Bought 20 shares of Enbridge Inc. at CA$ 55,68 per share plus commission.



Enbridge Inc. engages in energy transportation activities in the United States and Canada. It operates through five segments: Liquids Pipelines, Gas Distribution, Gas Pipelines and Processing, Green Power and Transmission, and Energy Services. The Liquids Pipelines segment operates common carrier and contract crude oil, natural gas liquids (NGL), and refined products pipelines and terminals. The Gas Distribution segment operates as a natural gas utility that serves residential, commercial, and industrial customers in Central and Eastern Ontario, and Northern New York State, as well as in Quebec and New Brunswick. The Gas Pipelines and Processing segment holds interests in natural gas pipelines, and gathering and processing facilities, including the Alliance pipeline and the Vector pipeline, as well as transmission and gathering pipelines in the Gulf of Mexico; and the Aux Sable, a natural gas fractionation and extraction facility. The Green Power and Transmission segment engages in the renewable energy projects, such as wind, solar, and geothermal projects with a generating capacity of approximately 1,900 megawatts; and operates waste heat recovery facilities. The Energy Services segment provides energy supply and marketing services to refiners, producers, and other customers; crude oil and NGL marketing services; physical barrel marketing services; and natural gas marketing services. This segment also provides natural gas supply, transportation, balancing, and storage services for third parties. The company was formerly known as IPL Energy Inc. and changed its name to Enbridge Inc. in October 1998. Enbridge Inc. was founded in 1949 and is headquartered in Calgary, Canada.

Dividend Increase – Cardinal Health, Inc. (CAH)


Wednesday May 3, the Board of Directors of Cardinal Health, Inc. announced a quarterly dividend increase of from $ 0.4489 to $ 0.4624 per share that’s payable July 15, 2017 to holders of record July 3, 2017. This represents a 3.0% increase to regular quarterly dividends. With current price $ 72.74 (yesterdays close), this raise brings their dividend yield to 2.54%.

Since I own 20 shares of CAH, this will increase my portfolio's projected annual net dividend income by $ 0.80.

That increase rises my YOC to 2.82%.

Dividend Increase – PepsiCo, Inc. (PEP)




Tuesday The Board of Directors of PepsiCo, Inc. announced a quarterly dividend increase of from $0.7525 to $0.8050 per share that’s payable June 30, 2017 to holders of record June 2, 2017. This represents a 7% increase to regular quarterly dividends. Tuesday action is consistent with PepsiCo's previously announced increase in its annualized dividend to $3.22 per share from $3.01 per share, beginning with the June 2017 payment. PepsiCo has paid consecutive quarterly cash dividends since 1965, and 2017 marks the company's 45th consecutive annual dividend increase. With current price $112.39 (Wednesday's open), this raise brings their dividend yield to 2.87%.

Since I own 100 shares of PEP, this will increase my portfolio's projected annual net dividend income by $ 15.65.

That increase rises my YOC to 4.14%.

Dividend Increase – Baxter International Inc. (BAX)


Tuesday, 2 May the Board of Directors of Baxter International announced a quarterly dividend increase of from $ 0.13 to $ 0.16 per share that’s payable July 3, 2017 to holders of record June 2, 2017. This represents a 23.1% increase to regular quarterly dividends. With current price $ 55.73 (Wednesdays open), this raise brings their dividend yield to 1.15%.

Recent Buy - Emera Incorporated (EMA.TO)

On Wednesday, April 26, I bought 25 shares of Emera Incorporated at CA$ 47.53 per share plus commission.




My overall cost basis of this position increases from CA$ 47.04 to CA$ 47.18 per share. I totally hold now 130 shares of EMA and my yield on cost is 4.43%. I purchased my first EMA's shares end of October 2016, you can read more about it here

Dividend Increase – Johnson & Johnson (JNJ)


Today the Board of Directors of Johnson & Johnson announced a quarterly dividend increase of from $0.80 to $0.84 per share that’s payable June 13, 2017 to holders of record May 30, 2017. This represents a 5.0% increase to regular quarterly dividends. With current price $123.58 (todays open), this raise brings their dividend yield to 2.72%. 

"In recognition of our 2016 results, strong financial position and confidence in the future of Johnson & Johnson, the Board has voted to increase the quarterly dividend for the 55th consecutive year," said Alex Gorsky, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the company.

Since I own 60 shares of JNJ, this will increase my portfolio's projected annual net dividend income by $7.15.

That increase rises my YOC to 3.44%.

This represents a 11.99% increase to regular quarterly dividends. With current price 48.11 (today's open), this raise brings their dividend yield to 2.98%. 

Since I own 80 shares, this will increase my portfolio's projected annual net dividend income by 9.15.

The first quarter has already passed and it is time to look at how it went and how I managed in my saving goals and how my journey towards financial independence is progressing. Since this is the third year when I keep a stricter control of my spending, I continued to make a small comparison with last year's results also. As I mentioned in my first income / expenditure report, I will make a summary on a quarterly basis, because my months in the case of income are very different. This will give me a better view of the overall situation and hopefully will inspire some of my blog readers.

Dividend Increase – Omega Healthcare Investors, Inc. (OHI)


Thursday, 13 April Omega Healthcare Investors, Inc. announced a quarterly dividend increase of from $0.62 to $0.63 per share that’s payable May 15, 2017 to holders of record May 1, 2017. This represents a 1.61% increase to regular quarterly dividends. Maybe this increase appears to be small, but it is worth remembering that, Omega Healthcare Investors prefers to raise the dividend four times a year. The May payment in 2016 was $0.58 so 2017's payout represents an 8.62% increase year over year. Omega Healthcare Investors has now increased dividends for 19 consecutive quarters. With current price $34.06 (Thursday's close), this raise brings their dividend yield to 7.40%. 

Since I own 150 shares this will increase my yearly net dividends by $4.47.

That increase rises my YOC to 7.01%

CVS Health Corporation, together with its subsidiaries, provides integrated pharmacy health care services. It operates through Pharmacy Services and Retail/LTC segments. The Pharmacy Services segment offers pharmacy benefit management solutions, such as plan design and administration, formulary management, Medicare Part D services, mail order, specialty pharmacy and infusion services, retail pharmacy network management services, prescription management systems, clinical services, disease management programs, and medical pharmacy management services. This segment serves employers, insurance companies, unions, government employee groups, health plans, Medicare Part D plans, managed Medicaid plans, plans offered on public and private exchanges, other sponsors of health benefit plans, and individuals under the CVS Caremark Pharmacy Services, Caremark, CVS Caremark, CarePlus CVS Pharmacy, CVS Specialty, Accordant, SilverScript, NovoLogix, Coram, Navarro Health Services, and ACS Pharmacy names. Recent Buy - General Mills, Inc. (GIS)

On Tuesday March 21, I bought 20 shares of General Mills, Inc. at $ 58.46 per share plus commission.



Tuesday morning, General Mills reported fiscal 2017 third-quarter results, which was a small disappointment in the market, and I decided to put in the bid. My offer already went through on Pre-Market and, therefore, I grabbed a few more shares of GIS. 

My overall cost basis of this position decreases from $ 59.70 to $ 59.21 per share. I totally hold now 40 shares of GIS and my yield on cost is 3.24%. You can look at my first purchase of GIS here.
